Way back in 2006, world champion surfer Kelly Slater announced to Huck his belief that artificial waves pools were the future. Slater envisioned a time when going surfing would be like hitting a golf course: perfect waves available for all, whatever your location. And he invested big dollar to make it happen.
Today, that future is a reality as The Kelly Slater Wave Co just unveiled its first surfable wave. And of course Slater put it through its paces.
“This is the best man made wave ever made, for sure,” Slater said. “No doubt about it.” Well, time will tell.
