RiP! A Remix Manifesto

RiP! A Remix Manifesto
Watch The Full Film Here — Filmmaker Brett Gaylor and mashup artist Girl Talk challenge copyright law with a cut up and cause chaos manifesto.

“Elton John seems untouchable,” says prolific remixer Girl Talk. “…they force these ideas in your mind that these superstars are untouchable. [I just want to be able] to manipulate and do what you want and be able to put Elton John in a headlock and just put a beat behind him and pour a beer on his head.”

In RiP! A Remix Manifesto, Girl Talk joins forces with filmmaker Brett Gaylor to present a radical challenge to ideas of copyright and content creation in the age of the internet.

With the aid of Creative Commons founder Lawrence Lessig, Brazil’s Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil, and pop culture critic Cory Doctorow, they survey the dysfunctional 21st century media landscape and argue for a new understanding of cultural production fit for purpose in today’s world.
