Since partnering in 2009, Nikon Europe and the NOOR Foundation have come together each year to provide support, education and training for young photographic talent around the world. As it stands, their collaborative programs have successfully trained more than 175 students from more than 64 different countries – and counting.
Now, for 2018, the partnership has announced this year’s edition of the Nikon-NOOR Academy, which is set to launch with a series of in depth, free-of-charge masterclasses for young, aspiring and talented documentary photographers in Poland, Sweden and Belgium. During each of the four-day trainings, 15 selected participants – together with three selected NOOR photographers – will work on portfolios, improve editing skills and learn how to develop visual stories.
Attendees in Poland will work with Nina Berman, Tanya Habjouqa and Sebastián Liste, those in Sweden will be partnered with Yuri Kozyrev, Jon Lowenstein and Kadir van Lohuizen, with the Belgian program overseen by Sanne De Wilde, Bénédicte Kurzen, and Pep Bonet.
Photographers have until Monday, 29 January, 1pm Amsterdam time to apply for this year’s program. Submissions must include at least one photo story (minimum eight images, maximum 20 images) featuring a title and introduction, along with no more than eight separate, single images, all of which should include a caption and date.
The deadline for applications to Nikon-NOOR Academy 2018 masterclasses is Monday 29 January, 2018.
