Sketch, sand and surf — Lucas Beaufort teams up with Co&Jo to show the beauty and sweat that goes into making a surfboard.

Lucas Beaufort is a 33-year-old French artist, surfer and skater who’s been nicknamed the Swiss Army Knife because of his passion to touch everything he comes into contact with.

His collaborative short film with the blog Co&Jo shows the attention to detail that goes into the making of a surfboard and the care it needs. The retro feel of the whole video, with its onus on DIY boardmaking, is accentuated by a gentle soundtrack that compliments the feel perfectly.

The film was shot in Anglet, south-west France, which has a huge scene and hosts its own annual Surf Film Festival which is now in its 12th year. This year’s festival will take place between July 10-13.
