In photos: Queer style and self expression at Body Movements festival

Body Movements has come along way in just three years. Founded by producer and DJ Saoirse Ryan and Clayton Wright, a stalwart of leading LGBTQI+ collective Little Gay Brother, Body Movements is a celebration of the depth and breadth of the queer electronic music community in London. It has since become a touch point to bring together so many artists, crews, collectives and a home for dynamic queer identities.
Body Movements’ third edition took over 16 industrial spaces in Hackney Wick, East London on Saturday July 29 in a multi-venue festival uniting bodies across queer club culture, electronic music, art and more. The festival welcomed 5,000 joyous people and featured an eclectic variety of LGBTQI+ collectives from across the UK and beyond. The event also raised an impressive £11,002 for London Trans Pride, its charity partner.
Photographers Zenhofer (gallery above) and Courteney Frisby (gallery below) documented all the colour, creativity and queerness of the event and shared exclusive images with Huck. They captured highlights of the all-dayer, which ran long into the night, including queer dance party Chapter 10 getting the afternoon moving at the new Unit C warehouse space, Jay Jay Revlon’s voguing antics at Studio 94 and a closing set from Body Movements co-founder Saoirse Ryan, in which she thanked everyone for “taking up this space and loads of other space.”
